Major Goals of Training Program
The Indiana University School of Medicine A/I Fellowship Program is based at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. The mission of the Indiana University School of Medicine Allergy/ Immunology Fellowship Program is to train specialists in Allergy and Immunology who will provide expert medical care for adults and children with allergic and immunologic disorders. Riley is one of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals, both in patient care and research activities. Riley Hospital and Indiana University Hospital have campuses in downtown Indianapolis and in Carmel, a suburb of Indianapolis. Fellows will be trained in patient care at both campuses, and at the Indiana University Health-Arnett Clinic in Lafayette, Indiana.
The fellowship program will provide state-of-the-art clinical training in allergy and immunology. This program will try to produce a specialist who will not only excel in patient care skills and diagnostic acumen but also know how to analyze and apply research. Trainees will have 25% of their fellowship devoted to pursuing research interests of their choice. Fellows who succeed in these goals will be positioned for a career in academic medicine and clinical practice. On completion of the fellowship, the physician will be eligible to sit for the Board Certification Exam of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
