Major Goals of Training Program
The Allergy/Immunology fellowship program at the University of Iowa is designed to provide trainees with basic knowledge and clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of common and complex allergic and immunologic diseases in children and adults. The inpatient consultative experience occurs at the University of Iowa Hospitals and the neighboring Iowa City VA Medical Center. The outpatient experience includes a Pediatric Immune Disorders Clinic and Pediatric Allergy Clinic, as well as hospital based adult Allergy/Immunology & Drug Allergy Clinics at UIHC & the Iowa City VA. Electives in Pediatric Rheumatology, HIV and Immunopathology are provided.
Basic, translational and clinical research opportunities are available with mentoring from Division faculty, the Immunology Graduate Program, the Center for Immunology & Immune Based Disorders and the Institute for Clinical & Translational Science (ICTS). Options for an additional year of training for a more rigorous research experience are available.
The training program is a combined pediatric-internal medicine program with positions for residents trained in Pediatrics and/or Internal Medicine. To learn more about our program, please visit our website.
