Grants

In alignment with the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology’s (AAAAI) mission to advance the knowledge and practice of allergy, asthma and immunology in support of optimal patient care, our grants and awards portfolio is designed to provide meaningful opportunities for members at every stage of their professional journey. These programs aim to foster innovation, support career development and promote excellence in research and clinical practice, ensuring continued progress in the field and improved outcomes for patients worldwide.

2026 AAAAI Bridge Funding Award for Research Continuity
The 2026 AAAAI Bridge Funding Award for Research Continuity is designed to provide short-term, targeted support to investigators with highly competitive grant applications that have undergone peer review and council consideration but have not received funding according to standard timelines despite strong scientific merit. This program is intended to support investigators with a high likelihood of future funding whose research programs are at risk due to temporary funding delays, and to preserve research momentum, prevent loss of critical personnel, and sustain high-value scientific programs during these gaps. This one-year award provides $100,000 in funding (no indirect costs) to support research continuity, including personnel, supplies and other essential costs required to maintain the program during a funding gap. Must be a member of the AAAAI in good standing for the 3 years prior to the grant submission date. The application deadline is November 8, 2026, 3:00 pm CT. Learn more and apply.

2026 AAAAI Environmental Health Equity Research Grants
The AAAAI Environmental Health Equity Research Grants support clinical allergists / immunologists conducting community-based projects aimed at improving environmental health equity and health outcomes among underserved populations with allergic and immunologic diseases. Priority will be given to projects that incorporate volunteerism and meaningful community engagement, with an emphasis on building direct, sustainable relationships between AAAAI members and the communities they serve. Two, 2-year awards will be provided for direct costs up to $55,000/year plus an additional $5,000/year if projects have a committed community organization partnership with a letter of support. 2027 AAAAI/TMS Research Award in Mast Cells Disorders including Mastocytosis and/or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome
The AAAAI in conjunction with the The Mast Cell Society is pleased to announce the 2026 AAAAI/The Mastocytosis Society Research Award in Mast cells Disorders including Mastocytosis and/or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, a one-year award that provides $60,000 for salary and lab expenses. The application deadline is October 30, 2026, 3:00 pm (CT). Learn more and apply. 

2026 AAAAI Educator Development Award
The AAAAI 2026 AAAAI Educator Development Award helps nurture aspiring leaders in education, so that they may more successfully contribute to efforts such as assessment, curriculum development, program design and outcome improvements in the field of allergy / immunology. This one-year award that provides $50,000 distributed in two equal payments over the year. The application deadline is October 30, 2026, 3:00 pm CT. Learn more and apply

2027 AAAAI/ Elliot and Roslyn Jaffe Third-Year Fellowship Food Allergy Research Award at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
The AAAAI in conjunction with the Jaffe family Foundation is pleased to announce the 2027 AAAAI/ Elliot and Roslyn Jaffe Third-Year Fellowship Food Allergy Research Award at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a one-year award that provides $160,000 for salary and lab expenses. The application deadline is October 30, 2026, 3:00 pm CT. Learn more and apply.


Indirect Costs
Funds cannot be used for institutional indirect costs (sometimes called facility and administration, or F&A costs) funds can only be used for salary, lab supplies, lab expenses, etc.

Grant Selection Process
The majority of the AAAAI grants, awards and scholarships are administered by the AAAAI Grant Review Committee (GRC) under the support of the Research and Training Division of the AAAAI Board of Directors. Candidates are selected at the discretion of the GRC after the evaluation of applications by committee reviewers who have acquired experience and expertise to assess the quality, the potential impact of the proposed research, and the research-related activities, within the context of the funding opportunity. All candidates are then approved by the AAAAI Board of Directors. In grants offered collaboratively with another organization, the partnering organization will be included in the selection process.

AAAAI Foundation Development Award recipient decisions are made by the AAAAI Foundation Council with recommendations from the GRC and final approval by the AAAAI Foundation Board of Directors. The AAAAI Foundation is dedicated to support the development of early career faculty to further their careers in allergy / immunology and to help create leaders and independent investigators by funding excellent research that will lead to the prevention and cure of asthma, allergic, and immunologic disease.  

On occasion, if not enough applications are submitted, the award sponsor will issue a new call for applications with an extended deadline. In rare circumstances, an award may not be presented if an insufficient number of quality applications are received.
