The AAAAI Foundation recognizes the challenges that early-stage investigators face in securing research funding. That’s why in 2024 we established the AAAAI Foundation Award to Sustain Research Excellence – to help support outstanding early-career research during a pivotal time in their academic journey. This award aims to help investigators maintain momentum as they launch their independent research programs, ensuring continued progress and innovation in the A/I field.

2025 Immune Deficiency Foundation Research Grant
IDF’s Research Grant Program supports patient-centered research focused on improving the treatment, health, disease management, or diagnosis of people with PI, as well as research that contributes to the general body of PI knowledge.
- Awards range from $25,000-50,000.
- Open to U.S-based academic researchers in medicine and science conducting non-commercial research.
- One-year term.
- Currently unavailable for individuals employed by federal government agencies or departments.

2026 AAAAI Foundation Faculty Development Award
The AAAAI Foundation is dedicated to support the development of junior faculty to further their careers in Allergy and Immunology, and to help create leaders and independent investigators by funding excellent research that will lead to the prevention and cure of asthma and allergic and immunologic disease. The award provides $300,000 in funding, paid out to the awardee’s institution in six equal payments over a three-year period starting July 1, 2026.
2026 Drug Hypersensitivity Research Grant
This funding opportunity is to support up to three research grants to advance the state of knowledge, develop novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications that could have a major impact on drug hypersensitivity research. This funding mechanism is designed to further research in drug allergy/hypersensitivity. For this opportunity vaccines are not considered drugs, and applications that focus on vaccine reactions will NOT be considered for this award.
2026 Hope APFED/AAAAI Grant
The 2026 Hope APFED/AAAAI Grant Award was established to allow investigators from a variety of disciplines to initiate new projects relevant to Eosinophilic Disorders, excluding asthma, rhinitis and eczema. Successful applications will focus on the development of new ideas which are likely to lead to future external funding. This two-year award provides $140,000.
2026 AAAAI/ Elliot and Roslyn Jaffe Third-Year Fellowship Food Allergy Research Award at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
The AAAAI in conjunction with the Jaffe family Foundation is pleased to announce the 2026 AAAAI/ Elliot and Roslyn Jaffe Third-Year Fellowship Food Allergy Research Award at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a one-year award that provides $65,000 for salary and lab expenses.
Grant Selection Process
The majority of the AAAAI grants, awards, and scholarships are administered by the AAAAI Grant Review Committee (GRC) under the support of the Research and Training Division of the AAAAI Board of Directors. Candidates are selected at the discretion of the GRC after the evaluation of applications by committee reviewers who have acquired experience and expertise to assess the quality, the potential impact of the proposed research, and the research-related activities, within the context of the funding opportunity. All candidates are then approved by the AAAAI Board of Directors. In grants offered collaboratively with another organization, the partnering organization will be included in the selection process.
AAAAI Foundation Faculty Development Award recipient decisions are made by the AAAAI Foundation Council with recommendations from the GRC and final approval by the AAAAI Foundation Board of Directors. The AAAAI Foundation is dedicated to support the development of early career faculty to further their careers in allergy / immunology and to help create leaders and independent investigators by funding excellent research that will lead to the prevention and cure of asthma, allergic, and immunologic disease.
On occasion, if not enough applications are submitted, the award sponsor will issue a new call for applications with an extended deadline. In rare circumstances, an award may not be presented if an insufficient number of quality applications are received.
