Drug Induced Hypersensitivity Syndrome (DIHS) Defined

DIHS is a description given to many systemic autoimmune disorders that can cause mild to severe mucosal and skin-related reactions to medications. Many of these may also lead to systemic and organ involvement and in rare cases can be fatal. These include reactions such as DRESS (drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms), Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN).
