AAAAI Virtual Advocacy Day, December 6, 2022:  Medicare Physician Pay Cuts, Prior Authorization, & More

The AAAAI is hosting a Virtual Advocacy Day on December 6, 2022. Members of the AAAAI will meet via Zoom with select members of Congress between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm ET (subject to adjustment for Congress members’ schedules), when members of Congress will share comments and speak with our allergists/immunologists about priority issues.

Preparing for the Conversation
This one-hour webinar provides an expert overview of the AAAAI priority issues and communication strategies for our meetings with members on Congress during our Virtual Advocacy Day on Tuesday December 6, 2022. Watch in advance and let us know if you have any questions at advocacy@aaaai.org.

These documents will be shared with our Congressional guests, and also sent to every member of Congress, on these critical and urgent issues:  

• Physician Reimbursement – On January 1, physician reimbursement from Medicare will be reduced by almost 5%, to the detriment of healthcare for ALL patients in the U.S., and especially devastating on small community practices. We need action before the end of the year to fix this physician pay cut. Watch our one hour webinar, “Medicare Physician Payment, Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Headed” to learn how the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule impacts all physician reimbursement. 
 
• Prior Authorization – Prior authorization is a serious impediment to our ability to provide timely, evidence-based care to patients. We are asking Congress to pass legislation requiring changes to prior authorization in the Medicare Advantage program, setting the stage to improve prior authorization requirements for all payers, without further delay.

• Patient Access – The AAAAI supports increasing equitable access to evidence-based specialty care, including expansion of telehealth and reducing health disparities.
