Patch testing and underlying tattoos

Question:

I would like to perform patch testing. However, patient's entire back is covered in tattoos. The only available skin without tattoos in left thigh, right upper arm, and abdomen. Can I apply patch test (8 patches in total) on these areas?

Answer:

Fowler and coworker concluded that if necessary, patch-tests can be placed and read on tattooed skin.
