Severe Asthma Defined

Severe asthma is a form of asthma that is more difficult to treat. People with severe asthma are usually taking the highest doses of medication used to treat asthma but may still present with asthma flares requiring emergency treatment. Only about 5-10% people with asthma have severe asthma. Severe asthma is best managed by a specialist.
