Major Goals of Training Program
The main goal of the program is to provide a broad training experience that prepares physicians to enter academics as either clinician/educators or researchers. The program is based at the only pediatric hospital in the region, and consequently trainees are exposed to a wide range of both allergic and immunologic disease states in children. The adult experience is obtained at the University Hospital which also provides a wide variety of clinical cases in adult patients. One of the strengths of the program is that there is a broad clinical experience in pediatric and adult clinical care, inpatient and outpatient cases, and both allergic and immunologic disease states.

Each fellow has a mentoring committee to facilitate the selection and progress of research projects. The goal is to both present a research project at a national meeting and to prepare a manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed journal by the completion of the training period. There is an extensive educational curriculum.
