Idiopathic Anaphylaxis Definition

Anaphylaxis (an-a-fi-LAK-sis) is a serious response that often involves swelling, hives, lowered blood pressure and in severe cases, shock. The term “idiopathic” means without a cause. In most cases, anaphylaxis is caused by an allergic reaction. Anaphylaxis is considered idiopathic if it occurs without a known cause or event.
