I work with a Scandinavian association of therapy dogs and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chicago and see several therapy dogs at work there. I was glad to see what wonderful work they did, especially a visit in a children's hospital warmed my heart. Now, in Sweden, working in hospitals with an animal is close to impossible due to stringent rules regarding allergies and hygiene. It seems to me that the US has found a way to work with animals in hospitals while at the same time protecting those suffering from allergies. I would like to learn more about how AAAAI regards therapy animals in hospitals and how you recommend introducing an therapy animal program in a new facility. I am grateful for any reply!

Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in our Academy. However, the AAAAI does not have any position paper or formal stance on this issue.

Thank you again for your inquiry and I am sorry that we could not be of more help to you.
