Statin allergy

Question:

1/2/2018
If a patient has a history of anaphylaxis to lipitor, could they tolerate a different statin?

Answer:

I found 2 case reports related to your question. In 2013, Khan et al reported a case of successful desensitization to rosuvastatin in a patient with history of anaphylaxis to multiple statins, including atorvastatin. In 2015, Ogai et al reported a successful graded drug challenge to rosuvastatin and long term treatment with it in a patient with apparent simvastatin allergy. I have provided the references for these case reports.
