Seasonal allergic rhinitis and palpitations

Question:

Reviewed 5/8/2019

Have you heard of any patient presenting with heart palpitations during grass pollen season...3 years consecutively and wanting to know if allergy could be culprit? Cardiology w/u negative including echo stress test. Prick positive to grass.
Palpitations go away when grass pollen does? Any experience?

Answer:

No, I have not personally seen palpitations associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis, and I am unaware of nor could I find any reference to this association in the pharma/medical literature. However, there are lay “message boards” which make mention of this phenomenon. For your interest, I have copied links below to two of these. Of course these are anecdotal and in no way document a causal relationship between these two entities, but I am sending the links along only for your interest.

Thank you again for your inquiry and we hope this response is helpful to you.
