Is "Gastrocrom" (oral cromolyn) confined to the GI lumen/walls, or is some of it absorbed into the blood and therefore systemically available? Also, I have heard Gastrocrom is "off-the-market", and I have also heard it is "hard-to-get". Which is true? Is it available in the U.S. anymore from a U.S. pharmacy?

Thank you for your inquiry.

Here is a link to a site that will give you information regarding Gastrocrom in a very condensed and easily accessible format. You will see from this site that Gastrocrom is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract in very small amounts (1% or less).

Oral cromolyn sodium can be purchased. To access sites where this agent is offered for sale, simply go to “Google” and type in “Gastrocrom, purchase.” There is more than one location.

Thank you again for your inquiry and we hope this response is helpful to you.
