Jackfruit anaphylaxis

Question:

6/6/2017
Jackfruit anaphylaxis, Hx? Does it cross with other fruit? Any other cross reactivity?

Answer:

I have asked Dr. David Fleischer to address your questions. Please see his response below:

"There is one case report of anaphylaxis to jackfruit due to believed cross-reactivity to latex. There are also a few reports of oral allergy symptoms with ingestion of it due to Bet v 1 related proteins.

Jackfruit is related to fig, mulberry and Moraceae family, so these could cross-react.

See below for references to available articles on jackfruit and allergy."
