Severe Cutaneous Adverse Reaction (SCAR) Defined

SCAR refers to reactions to medications that predominantly involve the skin. These are serious reactions and may be fatal. They include AGEP (acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis), DRESS (drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms), Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) and generalized bullous fixed drug eruptions (GBFDE).
