Mold Counts Defined

A pollen count or a mold count is based on the measurement of the number of grains of pollen or mold spores in a cubic meter of the air. The higher the count, the greater the chance that people suffering from hay fever will experience symptoms when they are outdoors or exposed to outdoor air. The National Allergy BureauTM (NAB) is the trusted resource for pollen and mold counts.

There is a difference between a pollen count and a pollen forecast. Pollen counts from the NAB counting stations are based on actual counts reflecting real-time weather. Predicted pollen forecasts are most often based on pollen data from previous years and general weather forecasts. Actual versus predicted counts can make a big difference for millions of people suffering from hay fever.
