Pierson Faculty Visitation Program Overview The William E. Pierson Faculty Visitation Program was established by an unrestricted educational grant from sanofi aventis pharmaceuticals to bring visiting allergist/immunologists to selected academic medical centers without an allergy/immunology (A/I) training program or a significant A/I faculty presence. The program offers an excellent educational opportunity to provide medical students, residents, house staff and local physicians with up-to-date information about allergy, asthma and immunology within a 2-day period through intensive teaching and consultation.  The Ideal Pierson Visitation Program Includes: Formal lectures/grand rounds, Interactive case conferences, Ward rounds on select patients, etc. Laboratory discussions, or Other educational formats as requested. Presentation Topics An overview of common allergic conditions including: Asthma/allergy connection Complications of allergies Allergic emergencies Food allergies (for pediatrics) Drug allergies (for internal medicine) Recurrent or serious infections Information on "when to refer" to an allergist / immunologist.
