Ask the Expert

Ask the Expert is designed to serve the needs of licensed health care professionals who have questions about diagnosing and treating their patients' allergies and asthma. Questions from the general public will not be answered.

If you are not a medical professional, please visit the Patients & Consumers area of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Web site for general public information. To find an allergist/immunologist near you, use the AAAAI's Physician Referral Directory.

Review and Submission of Questions

Before submitting your question, search the Ask the Expert archive to see if the topic of your question has already been covered in one or more previous questions.

If you can't find the answer you are looking for, use the form on the next page to submit your question. Please include your full name and professional qualification (physician, nurse, pharmacist, etc). We cannot process your question without this information. For purposes of patient confidentiality, please do not include patient names or other identifiers in any correspondence.

Questions and answers will be posted in the Ask the Expert area of the AAAAI Web site. Your name will not be disclosed as the questioner. You will receive an e-mail notification when the answer to your question is posted. Thank you.

Important Note: Please do not use any abbreviation in your inquiry unless the full description of the term is written before the first time the abbreviation is used; e.g., skin prick test (SPT), common variable immunodeficiency (CVI). We request that you do this because sometimes what are considered standard abbreviations in one area of the country or world are not so in others, and we occasionally have had to send questions back for clarification regarding the meaning of an abbreviation prior to attempting to answer the inquiry
