AAAAI Travel Checklist

Sleeping bag. Check. Flashlight. Check. Bug spray. Check. Asthma Inhaler. Check. Getting ready for summer camp? Together with your child, make sure the following items are checked off before you head out for your summer camp outing.

Have a pre-trip visit to your doctor for a full physical check-up.
Pack your routine asthma medications and equipment.
Continue to follow your asthma treatment plan.
Know your asthma triggers around camp and the outdoors.
Prepare an emergency asthma control plan and have a copy of your physician’s phone number ready.
Inform the camp with the history and severity of your child’s asthma or allergies.
Make sure the camp nurse is familiar with your child's asthma and allergy medication.

When kids with asthma and allergies take the appropriate precautions, activities like camping can be fun. Go out and experience the beauty of the outdoors, meet new friends, and enjoy those special activities that are part of summer camp.
