School Science Projects - Food & Cooking
Looking for an idea for a science project that involves food and cooking? Here are a few ideas to help:
- Educate your class about food allergies. Explain to them:
- What is a food allergy?
- What foods are people commonly allergic to?
- What happens when someone comes into contact with food they are allergic to?
- How to avoid certain foods
- Are there any alternatives to these foods?
- How can a doctor can determine what you are allergic to?
- Tell your classmates about what to do when someone has an allergic reaction
Create a poster with pictures of common foods to be aware of.
- Create a mini cookbook with alternative recipes for people with food allergies.
- Make a diagram showing why the body has an allergic reaction, and what happens during the reaction.
- Show a video telling about food allergies similar to the one found here.
For more information on food allergies, visit the AAAAI Patient Gallery or the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).
