School Science Projects - Exercise & Sports

ExerciseLooking for an idea for a science project about the exercise, sports, and asthma? Here are a few ideas to help:

  1. Educate your class about exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB). Explain to them:
  2. Make a display or poster with a diagram of the lungs and show how the lungs work. You could also show the difference between someone with EIB vs. someone without EIB.
  3. Create a list of helpful hints for people with EIB and hand it out to classmates.
  4. Inform classmates about how they can help a friend who has EIB if they have an attack.
  5. Teach classmates about what activities are okay for someone who has EIB.
  6. Sports Measure lung capacity with:
  7. Construct a lung
  8. Gather your classmates together and time their breathing. Compare how many breaths they take:
    • Per minute
    • Per hour
    • Per day
    • Per year
  9. Show classmates what its like to have EIB by passing out drink straws, then have them run in place for 1 minute while breathing through the straw.
  10.  Show a video telling about EIB similar to the one found here.
