School Science Projects - Anaphylaxis
Looking for an idea for a science project about allergies and anaphylaxis? Here are a few ideas to help:
- Educate your class about anaphylaxis. Explain to them:
- What is anaphylaxis?
- Different causes of anaphylaxis
- Who is at risk for having an anaphylactic reaction?
- What are symptoms of anaphylaxis?
- What to do when symptoms occur
- Prevention of anaphylaxis
- Anaphylaxis Emergency Action plan
Make a diagram showing what happens in the body when anaphylaxis occurs.
- Obtain an Epi-Pen trainer to demonstrate how to inject it.
- Make a poster showing the most common anaphylactic triggers.
- Create a brochure listing steps to take in case someone has an anaphylactic reaction and hand it out to your class.
- Show a video telling about allergies similar to the one found here.
For more information about food related anaphylaxis, visit the AAAAI Patient Gallery or the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).
