Calcium channel blockers associated with angioedema
The authors found a case of probable amlodipine-induced angioedema. A review of the literature revealed seven patients with calcium channel blocker associated angioedema episodes. The other calcium channel blockers were verapamil, diltiazem, and nifedipine. Application of a Naranjo probability scale found a probable link between amlodipine and angioedema.
The authors therefore concluded that calcium channel blocker-induced angioedema exists, and issued a warning that clinicians should consider these agents as possible causes of angioedema.
