Probiotics for allergic rhinitis and asthma
The authors searched PubMed for randomized controlled trials studying the effects of probiotics on allergic rhinitis and asthma. They found 12 suitable randomized controlled trials in allergic rhinitis, and nine of these demonstrated improvement due to the use of probiotics. The effects were seen in both seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. There were no detectable effects on any immunologic parameter measured.
In addition, the randomized controlled trials involving asthma showed no positive results.
