Point mutations in the beta receptor affect bronchodilator response
Summary
The investigators studied 844 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 111 candidate genes in 209 children and their parents. They were looking for an association between SNPs and acute response to inhaled beta agonists. They identified 17 genes, and genotyped 99 SNPs from these genes. They then genotyped 63 snips from 4 genes with significant association with bronchodilator responsiveness. They found that snips from ARG 1 were significantly associated with bronchodilator responsiveness.Reference
