Reaction to paclitaxel stent
Summary
This is a case report of a patient who, two weeks after the insertion of a polymer-based paclitaxel-eluting stent (TAXUS, Boston Scientific) developed urticaria, some wheeze, and what was termed an "active synovitis". The patient was treated for a month with oral antihistamines and the reaction subsided. The time of treatment was based on the amount of time required for the paclitaxel to be eluted.
Thus paclitaxel reactions may be conservatively treated.
