Failure of lactobacillus GG to prevent atopic disease in infants whose mothers were treated with the lactobacillus
Summary
The investigators treated 105 pregnant women in a double-blinded fashion with placebo or lactobacillus GG starting four to six weeks prior to delivery, and continuing to postnatal age six months. There was no difference in the frequency of the development of atopic dermatitis, dermatitis severity, total IgE, or inhalant allergen sensitization in the two groups.Reference
