Anaphylaxis

For children with severe food or insect stinging allergies, even a small exposure could lead to a life-threatening reaction. Anaphylaxis is a rapid, immune-mediated, systemic reaction to allergens to which a person has previously been exposed. It can result in trouble breathing, loss of consciousness and even death. Anaphylaxis is a medical emergency that requires immediate medical treatment, and later follow up care by an allergist/immunologist.
