Resources Relevant to the Implementation
of Core ACGME-Required Competencies

Module II
    Practice-based learning & improvement
          Resources

Introduction

There is considerable evidence showing the impact of the ‘informal curriculum’ on the development of learners. This means that the actions of faculty are crucial in promoting and modeling the desired learner behaviors.

Resources included in the module focus on a number of areas related to practice-based learning and improvement. Some of these materials are interactive. Some are readings that may be used to trigger discussion. Yet others are tools that fellows can use to facilitate active participation in practice-based learning and improvement projects.

Training programs will want to document group use of resources and individual fellows will want to document their use of specific resources.

Resources contained in this module relate to five particular domains of practice-based learning and improvement: improving patient care, evidence, research and statistical methods, information technology, and facilitating learning.
