Journal of the American Medical Association While few would doubt the value of advising A/I patients to receive the appropriate immunizations, the numbers of patients receiving those immunizations are not always optimal. Effect of Patient Reminder/Recall Interventions on Immunization Rates is a review article that documents significant increases in the immunization rate when patient recall/reminder interventions are used.

ACP-ASIM
The ACP-ASIM provides a number of resources concerning prevention for physicians. These resources include vaccine-specific information and practice tools, such as sample reminder letters that can be customized, information on billing and coding immunizations, and strategies from the CDC for increasing immunization rates.

The site also provides access to A Guide to Expanding Educational Objectives in Internal Medicine Residency. One of the sections covered in the Guide is Preventive Medicine.

While these materials were designed for use in internal medicine, many of them are generalizable across specialties.
