Teaching Curriculum: Pregnant Patients with Asthma and/or Allergic Rhinitis

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this rotation, the rotator should be able to:
- Discuss the effects of anti-asthma drugs on development of the fetus and the course of the pregnancy and discuss the effects of uncontrolled asthma in pregnancy
- List the drugs of choice for the treatment of mild intermittent asthma, mild persistent asthma, moderate persistent asthma, and severe persistent asthma in pregnancy
- Describe the treatment of acute asthma in pregnancy
- Describe the treatment of allergic rhinitis in pregnancy
- Discuss allergy management in pregnancy, including environmental control and immunotherapy
