Commercial Support Opportunities
Commercial Support of Educational Sessions
All Annual Meeting educational sessions will be conducted in accordance with the Commercial Support Guidelines of this prospectus.
The following guidelines represent an acceptable pathway for industry to follow in support of educational sessions at the Annual Meeting. Satellite symposia, or those planned without the input or invitation of the AAAAI, are not permitted at the Annual Meeting and the AAAAI will provide no time frame or function space for such sessions to occur before, during or after the Annual Meeting.
Overview of Commercial Support Options and Processes
There are five basic types of educational sessions planned by the AAAAI which are made available for commercial support at the AAAAI Annual Meeting, each with different formats and prospective audiences.
Plenary or Keynote Sessions: Large (3,000+ attendees), didactic sessions designed to appeal to the Annual Meeting audience as a whole. Cost to Industry = $25,000 each.
Symposia, State-of-the-Art Sessions, Pro/Con Debates or Interest Section Forums: Large (500-1,000 attendees), didactic sessions designed to appeal to large segments of the Annual Meeting audience. Cost to Industry = $20,000 each.
Courses: Medium (100-300 attendees), didactic sessions with interactive segments that provide focused instruction on topics basic to the specialty. Cost to Industry = $15,000 each.
Workshops: Small (25-200 attendees), interactive sessions designed to provide in-depth instruction on critical topics within allergy and immunology. Cost to Industry = $10,000 each.
Seminars: Small (25 attendees maximum), roundtable discussion sessions designed to bring participants together with recognized experts in the field to discuss critical topics within allergy and immunology. Cost to Industry = $5,000 each.
The AAAAI Annual Meeting Program Committee oversees the development and confirmation of all educational sessions in the categories listed above. This process of development takes place throughout an eighteen month planning cycle. Although industry partners typically can have no input into the content of these educational sessions, the topics often coincide with the latest advances and breakthroughs in the specialty, and interest in supporting these educational sessions is high. In order to fairly and efficiently deal with multiple requests for support, the AAAAI will abide by the following processes and procedures in confirming support of these educational sessions.
All information regarding sessions available for commercial support will be embargoed until September 1, 2006.
On September 1, 2006, every educational session which has a confirmed title and moderator will be listed on the Annual Meeting Web site, www.annualmeeting.aaaai.org, as being available for support. The listing of available sessions will be updated every other Monday beginning September 18, 2006. Newly-confirmed sessions will be added and sessions with confirmed support will be removed.
Inquiries from potential industry partners will be handled strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once an industry partner makes a verbal commitment to support a particular educational session, an official AAAAI Letter of Agreement will be sent to the industry partner representative for their signature. The industry partner has two weeks to sign and return the Letter of Agreement which will constitute a legal and binding commitment to support that session. During those two weeks, that session will remain unavailable to other potential industry partners. At the conclusion of those two weeks, if no signed Letter of Agreement has been returned to the AAAAI, that session will be made available to other potential industry partners.
There is no limit on how many sessions any one organization can support.
The Annual Meeting Program Committee controls the development and confirmation of content and speakers for all educational sessions. Most sessions will have confirmed speakers prior to their availability to industry for support. If commercial support is confirmed for a session for which speakers have not yet been identified, the industry partner may submit a list of suggested speakers for that session. These suggestions must be made in writing to the AAAAI executive office, who will forward the information to the session moderator. The industry partner is prohibited from contacting the moderator directly. The moderator may contact the industry partner if additional suggestions or assistance is required. The final decision of which speakers to use always rests with the AAAAI.
Dinner Symposia
In addition to the sessions described above, the AAAAI also organizes dinner symposia in partnership with industry to present educational sessions applicable to treatment and practice. The sponsorship cost to industry = $95,000 each. Please contact Kay Whalen, AAAAI Executive Vice President, by telephone, (414) 272-6071, or e-mail, kwhalen@aaaai.org, to schedule a teleconference as a necessary first step in organizing a dinner symposium proposal. For more information about commercial support of educational sessions contact:
