Assemblies Offer Members Representation within the AAAAI
With total membership at about 6,500, engaging everyone in the democracy of the AAAAI can be a daunting task. With that challenge in mind, and an eye toward increased participation, the AAAAI sanctioned the creation of assemblies – originally called ‘councils’ – in the mid-1980s. As the AAAAI continues its efforts to increase the number of minorities in the field of allergy/immunology, it is important to utilize the programs and opportunities already being offered. The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) has informed its investigators that it will consider the support of more than one graduate student or postdoctoral fellow on a grant when requests are made in response to the NIH Program Announcement PA-08-190, Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research.
