AAFA’s new validated asthma program, “Wee Wheezers,” helps healthcare professionals teach parents of children under age 7 to recognize, prevent and manage asthma symptoms. Parents learn about asthma, resources for support, and how to communicate with physicians and caregivers. Parents attend four small group sessions, two hours each, and children attend two sessions with their parents.
This is another validated program from AAFA, proven through research to increase symptom-free days, decrease parental sleep interruptions and improve parental knowledge about asthma management. Visit the education section at www.aafa.org to learn more and to buy Wee Wheezers for your clinic.

Allan Bock, MD, FAAAAI, and Shideh Mofidi, MS, RD, provides practical information for preparing a food challenge, including challenge substances, placebos and vehicles, and sample elimination diet.
The Food Allergy Training Guide for Hospital and Food Service Staff, also written by Mofidi, and edited by FAAN, is a comprehensive guide for capturing food allergy information from patients, distributing the information to the unit and kitchen staff, and preparing allergen-safe meals.

AANMA is tackling illegal pharmacy manufacturing practices, government and private insurance fraud and abuse, and gaps in state and federal laws that expose patients to undue risk of suffering and death.
On May 3, AANMA will rally patients and physicians for Asthma Awareness Day Capitol Hill, calling on Congress to address these issues. Join AANMA and the Consumer Health Alliance for Safe Medication (CHASM) to ensure patients receive the FDA-approved nebulizer medications their doctors prescribe, not unapproved pharmacy-manufactured nebulizer medications. Tell Congress that healthcare policies must put patients first. Get the facts at www.aanma.org/cityhall.
