RSL activity update
By Sandra Gawchik, DO, FAAAAI

RSL Forums
The Regional, State and Local Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Societies (RSLAAIS or RSLs) have successfully completed another Leadership Forum. Region 5, Midsouth, held a successful RSL Forum in May in Austin, TX. Donald Fournier, MD, FAAAAI, is the Region 5 Governor. He said that the attendees identified three goals for the region. These goals included strengthening of communication within the region and the AAAAI, promoting the allergy payers, patients and managed care organizations, and promoting evidence-based referral guidelines. Fournier noted that the greatest outcome from this forum was that it opened up communication between the different states in his region. In addition, several of the states in Region 5 have begun discussion on how they can best work together for the common goal of promotion of the allergist/immunologist.

Region realignment
Please note the following RSL realignments:

  • Mississippi has been moved to Region 5, Midsouth
  • Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama have moved to Region 3, Southeast
  • Hawaii has also been moved to Region 7 with California, now called the Western Region

The new RSL Board of Governors is working hard to improve communications and should be congratulated on their efforts.
