Introducing career options

2008 Annual Meeting Fellows-In-Training Program

The Fellows-In-Training (FIT) Program is designed by the FIT Committee and the Annual Meeting Program Committee to expose FITs to the latest in cutting-edge research in the field of allergy/immunology and to introduce various career options. The program supplements the advanced training Fellows-in-Training receive at their training programs across the U.S. and Canada.

Goals of the FIT Program are:

  • To offer an intellectually stimulating opportunity to FITs/PhDs who attend the 2008 Annual Meeting.
  • To offer FITs/PhDs the opportunity to meet with their colleagues and learn from their experiences.
  • To offer FITs/PhDs the opportunity to keep abreast of the current research in the field.

The program includes a breakfast session, a morning symposium and a lunch symposium. Pre-registration and ticket are required, however, there is no fee for this event. Priority registration will be given to FIT members from the U.S. and Canada. International FITs will be allowed on a space-available basis.

Domestic Fellows-in-Training (FIT) travel scholarship
The Domestic FIT Travel Scholarships provide U.S. and Canadian allergy/immunology FITs and non-faculty PhDs with an opportunity to share in the intellectual benefits of the 2008 Annual Meeting by providing funding. Only domestic AAAAI In-Training members qualify for a travel scholarship.
Scholarship recipients who are the first author of an abstract that is accepted for presentation will be awarded a maximum of $1,100. First-year FITs without an accepted abstract will receive up to $800, or up to $650 if the recipient is a second or third-year FIT without an accepted abstract.

  • Applicants must be an AAAAI In-Training member or an AAAAI PhD Post Doc member or have submitted a completed application for In-Training or PhD Post Doc membership before November 16, 2007.

  • Applicants must be first, second or third year Fellows-in-Training in an allergy/immunology training program approved by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education, or a clinical immunology and allergy training program approved by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada -OR- non-faculty PhDs associated with the aforementioned training programs.

  • The work is significant to clinical, translational or basic science, novel, uses appropriate study design, analytical methods and experimental methods, and is clearly and logically written.

  • Abstracts selected for late breaking presentation will feature newsworthy and cutting-edge information which was not available at the time of the regular abstract submission.

  • Authors will be required to explain why their abstract is considered important or late breaking.

To be considered for presentation at the 2008 Annual Meeting, late-breaking abstracts must be submitted via the Annual Meeting Web site, www.annualmeeting.aaaai.org, by December 3.
