AAAAI Samter Journalism Award Entry Form

The Samter Award is named in honor of Max Samter, MD, FAAAAI, a former AAAAI President and ardent advocate for public education in the area of allergic disease.

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) has developed The Samter Journalism Award Program to celebrate and award outstanding medical/health reporting on allergy, asthma and immunology issues. Allergic disorders including asthma, allergies, sinusitis and allergic skin disorders affect 20% of the U.S. population, and the prevalence continues to increase. As a result, the need for accurate, helpful and up-to-date information on these topics is in great demand.

The Samter Journalism Award is given to those journalists who have made a positive impact on the general understanding of allergic diseases by the public.

The AAAAI is the largest professional medical specialty organization in the United States representing allergists, asthma specialists, clinical immunologists, allied health professionals, and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease. Established in 1943, the AAAAI has more than 6,000 members in the United States, Canada and 75 other countries. The AAAAI serves as an advocate to the public by providing free educational information to help the 50 million Americans with allergic diseases understand their condition and the importance of seeking proper medical care and treatment.
