Paul A. Greenberger, MD, FAAAAI elected to AAAAI Board of Directors

MIAMI BEACH – Paul A. Greenberger, MD, FAAAAI, joined the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's (AAAAI's) Board of Directors during its 2006 Annual Meeting in Miami Beach, FL. He was elected Secretary-Treasurer and will become the AAAAI president in 2009.

The AAAAI is the largest professional medical specialty organization in the United States representing allergists, asthma specialists, clinical immunologists, allied health professionals and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease.

Paul Greenberger, MD, FAAAAI, is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship Program at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

His research interests include allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, drug allergies, idiopathic anaphylaxis, and severe asthma.

He has published more than 230 manuscripts and 80 book chapters. He is co-editor of Patterson's Allergic Diseases and Drug Allergy & Protocols for Management of Drug Allergies. He serves as a reviewer for multiple journals and was Co-Editor-in-Chief of Allergy and Asthma Proceedings for 12 years.

Since joining the AAAAI in 1979, Dr. Greenberger has served on various committees and has been Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee, the Research Council, the Government and Private Charity Committee, and the Education and Research Trust Steering Committee. He is most proud of the over $5 million pledged by AAAAI members and fellows to fund an everlasting endowment for ERT activities to strengthen our specialty. He was honored to receive the Special Recognition Award from the AAAAI in 2001 for his efforts on the "Looking to our Future" campaign of the ERT. He is a fellow of the ACAAI, ACP, and ACCP, and a member of the ATS and AMA.
