Bruce Bochner, MD, FAAAAI, elected to AAAAI Board of Directors MIAMI BEACH – Bruce Bochner, MD, FAAAAI, joined the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's (AAAAI's) Board of Directors during its 2006 Annual Meeting in Miami Beach, FL. The AAAAI is the largest professional medical specialty organization in the United States representing allergists, asthma specialists, clinical immunologists, allied health professionals and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease. Dr. Bochner received his medical degree with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1982. After internal medicine residency training at the same institution, he completed a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology in the Division of Clinical Immunology at Johns Hopkins. He joined the Hopkins faculty in 1988, and in 1999 was promoted to Professor of Medicine. In 2003, he became the Director of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and in 2005 assumed the directorship of the Division's longstanding T32 training grant used to support postdoctoral education of physician-scientists in Allergy/Immunology. He is board certified in both internal medicine and allergy/immunology. Dr. Bochner is a Fellow of the AAAAI and a member of numerous organizations including the American Association of Immunologists, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, and the Collegium Internationale Allergologicum. Since 1993 he has been an Associate Editor for The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and has served on several grant review study sections of the National Institutes of Health. He is the author of more than 180 peer-reviewed publications, reviews, and book chapters, and is an associate editor for the Middleton's Allergy Principles and Practice textbook. His research interests include the mechanisms of human eosinophil, basophil and mast cell activation, recruitment and survival during allergic inflammatory responses. Established in 1943, the AAAAI has more than 6,300 members in the United States , Canada and 75 other countries.
