About the AAAAIWhat 6,500 Experts Can Do For You. General Information The AAAAI represents, asthma specialists, clinical immunologists, allied health professionals and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease. Established in 1943, the AAAAI has nearly 6,500 members in the United States, Canada and 60 other countries. The AAAAI is devoted to the advancement of the knowledge and practice of allergy, asthma and immunology for optimal patient care. What is an Allergist/Immunologist? An allergist/immunologist is a physician certified in internal medicine or pediatrics who has completed an additional two years of allergy/immunology training in an accredited program. Board-certified allergist/immunologists obtain certification through the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Annual Meeting Each year, academic and clinical leaders in the specialty gather at the Annual Meeting to showcase new research and discuss other developments in the areas of allergy, asthma and immunology.
