I have a patient with CVID who had a hip replacement. She is doing well and has no signs of any granulomas. Do these patients have an increased incidence of granuloma formation following surgery or infection at the site?

Thank you for your inquiry.

To my knowledge, and based upon a literature search, patients with common variable immunodeficiency syndrome are not at risk of granuloma formation resulting from surgery or the complication of an infection at a surgical wound site.

Thank you again for your inquiry and we hope this response is helpful to you.
