Q:

5/28/2014
I currently treat a patient with moderate asthma and allergic rhinitis with allergen immunotherapy and Xolair in addition to medications including ICS/LABA inhaler and oral antihistamines. The patient would like to try Otezla (Apremilast), a new PDE4 inhibitor to treat her psoriasis. Do you know of any contraindication to using omalizumab with a PDE4 inhibitor?

A:

Thank you for your inquiry.

I know of no contraindication to the concomitant use of apremilast and omalizumab, and could find none in a review of the literature or the package inserts of these agents.

Thank you again for your inquiry and we hope this response is helpful to you.

Sincerely,
Phil Lieberman, M.D.
