We have a patient that started IT last fall. She is complaining of oral herpes outbreaks that occur 1-2 days after she receives and allergy shot. Is there any connection between IT and Herpes outbreaks? We can find no evidence that IT and Herpes are connected. We have suggested that she discontinue her shots for now.

I am not aware of any relationship between allergen immunotherapy and outbreaks of oral herpes. I could find, based upon a literature search, no evidence of such relationship.
