Q:

4/25/2013
I have a male patient who has been receiving weekly allergy immunotherapy injections for a few months now and is doing well clinically. Recently he told me that he is trying to conceive with his wife. Would his allergy injections have any effect on his wife becoming pregnant?  Thank you very much.

A:

Thank you for your inquiry.

I am not aware of any effect that allergen immunotherapy might have on the ability of the recipient of the injections or their spouse to conceive. I could also find no reference to any such effect on a literature search.

Thank you again for your inquiry.

Sincerely,
Phil Lieberman, M.D.
