1/31/2013 I was recently asked a question about nickel allergy by a colleague. He often takes out keloids from earlobes as a plastics/ENT doc and asked if nickel allergy can lead to keloid formation-do you know if that is a common complication of nickel allergy? If so, he would consider referring these patients to an allergist to be tested for nickel sensitivity. Thank you for your time.
Thank you for your inquiry. I am not aware of contact dermatitis to nickel causing keloids, and could find no evidence of such in the literature. Thank you again for your inquiry. Sincerely, Phil Lieberman, M.D.
