Project: The role of toll-like receptors (TLRs) in CD25+ T regulatory cell development and function"The generosity of donors supporting the ART Faculty Development Award demonstrates a critically important vision and commitment to funding physician scientists in order to improve human health. This award will enable me to further interrogate the role of early childhood environmental stimuli and their impact on CD25+ T regulatory cell function. The goal of these studies is to expand our understanding of the hygiene hypothesis and provide additional insights into gene-by-environment effects related to T regulatory cells and their effects on allergic diseases. I am honored to receive this award and find myself in the company of esteemed colleagues who have benefited from and contributed to the field of allergy/immunology over the years."
