Over-the-Counter Safety & Approval Update Efforts

The AAAAI supports current legislative efforts to update the processes by which over-the-counter (OTC) drugs are approved or changed to/from prescription drug status. The AAAAI is part of a joint effort including the Pew Charitable Trust, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Maternal and Fetal Medicine, and others in support of bills in the House and Senate to enable the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to more quickly respond to safety data on currently available products and also to allow new products with sufficient safety data to make it to market more quickly.
