The Role of Nitric Oxide in the Diagnosis and Management of Childhood Asthma

Summary
This is a comprehensive review of the role of nitric oxide in the management of children with asthma. It describes optimal conditions for measurement, reference values related to age, gender, race, and other factors, correlation with inflammatory markers, and the use of this measurement in both management and diagnosis.

The authors conclude that the use of exhaled nitric oxide provides valuable additional information regarding airway inflammation and complements lung function tests.
