This chapter is a superb review of the pathogenesis of asthma dealing with airway inflammation, the immune response related to IgE-mediated asthma, intrinsic asthma, all the cell types known to contribute to the disease, the genetics of asthma, and airway wall remodeling. For any student of this disease interested in an in-depth review of its pathogenesis, this is a superb reference.
